Excel spreadsheets generated by Quickbooks.

I find that the Excel spreadsheets generated by Quickbooks  aren't searchable in Excel.  Has anyone else had that problem?

Excel spreadsheets generated by Quickbooks.

Hi there, @nmp222.

Thanks for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community. I'm here to help provide some insights about the excel spreadsheets in QuickBooks.

Are you trying to export reports from QuickBooks Desktop to Microsoft Excel and the option for excel is grayed out? If so, you have an option to export to a comma separated values (.csv) file.

Here's how:

  1. Open the report.
  2. Select the Excel drop-down at the top of the report.
  3. Select Create New Worksheet.
  4. On the Send Report to Excel window, select Create a comma separated values (.csv) file
  5. Select Export.
  6. Assign a file name, then choose the location where you want to save the file.
  7. Locate, open, and edit the file as needed.

If you're referring to something else, any details you can provide is extremely helpful for us to narrow things down.

I'll be around to help if you have any other questions about exporting to excel. Have a good one.

Actually that's not the issue.  The spreadsheets get generated but when you try to do a find in Excel that sometimes doesn't work very  well with numbers.  It's as if the spreadsheet doesn't recognize them.

I can generate the Excel Spreadsheet but when I try to do a find, especially on an number, Excel seems to have a tough time with it.

I don't have a problem generating the work sheets but I have a hard time doing a find on them. Numbers don't seem to register with Excel as being searchable.

Hello there, @nmp222.

Please allow me to join the thread and help share information about exporting reports to Excel.

For you to search for something in Excel, you can simply click anywhere on the Excel page and press on Ctrl+F on your keyboard.c5 excel....PNG

Since you're able to export the report to Excel successfully, but the numbers are not searchable, the problem here is within your Microsoft Excel.

To investigate and verify this further securely, it would be best if you can contact with Microsoft Excel Support.
