Export /create Excel file from item list

You've reached the right place for help, Knuk5685.

Before we start, may I know what version of QuickBooks Desktop for Mac are you using? Did you encounter a specific error message? I'd appreciate any additional information to help me look for a more accurate troubleshooting.

If it's a version that is no longer supported like (2019 and older), then you may need to upgrade your QuickBooks. Also, I suggest contacting our phone support. Our representatives can request for a viewing session to guide you and make sure your data is secured and make sure you're able to export the item list to Excel.

Export /create Excel file from item list

Hi @Knuk5685. Thanks for the question. I would suggest trying to export the Item list to IIF, then import that IIF file into Excel.

While running your company file:

  1. Select File menu > Export > Lists to IIF File...
  2. Check the Items checkbox
  3. Select the OK button
  4. Set the Save As field with desired name
  5. Choose the location where you wish to save the file
  6. Select the Save button
  7. Go the the saved .iif file and select
  8. Right-click the .iif file
  9. Select Open With menu item then Other... submenu item
  10. Select Microsoft Excel and select Open

You should now have your item list open in Excel, and can make changes or save as a .csv file.

Hope this helps!

Ben
