Fixed Asset Manager Date

I am creating an asset on the fixed asset manager. However my acquisition date keeps changing.

For example on the fixed asset item list, it shows as 01/08/2022 (1 August 2022) which is the right one. When i open the Fixed Asset Manager, the acquisition date changes to 08/01/2022 (8 January 2022) which is wrong. I have ensured my computer date is dd/mm/yyyy however this is still affecting my Fixed Asset Manager. Kindly help.

Fixed Asset Manager Date

Hello there, @adwoaaa.

I'm concerned to hear that you're experiencing an incorrect date format when comparing your Fixed Asset Item List and Fixed Asset Manager. Rest assured, I'm here to help you understand and assist you in handling this.

Your computer's date format will synchronize with the Fixed Asset Item list date format. However, the date format in the Fixed Asset Manager will remain in the month/date/year format. I've provided a screenshot below to show that one of my assets is dated October 15, 2009, in month/date/year format.

I have also provided an image below that shows the same asset in the Fixed Asset Item in date/month/year format. However, it shows in the Fixed Asset Manager as month/date/year format.

After that, you can also consider managing your Fixed Assets using the Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) to help you better control your asset information in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to drop by your additional concerns you may have by clicking the reply button below. I'm here to assist you with anything besides understanding the date format between the Fixed Asset Manager and Fixed Asset Item Lists.

Fixed Asset Manager Date

I agree with that. Dates after 13th of any month are able to synchronize when I open the Fixed Asset Manager to be mm/dd/yyyy. However, dates before 13th of any month are not able to synchronize like the example I gave before.
You can try it with an asset purchased on 1 August 2024 (01/08/2024) in the Fixed Asset Item List.

When I open the FAM, the date changes to 8 January 2024 (08/01/2024).

Do let me know how I can go about this. Because of the date changes, my depreciation values are very different.

Fixed Asset Manager Date

I appreciate you for reaching back to us, @adwoaaa. Let me share with you some insights and information about issues when changing the date format in Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) in QuickBooks Desktop.

By default, the date format in QuickBooks Desktop is based on your computer's date format. If you're not happy with the format, you can check your Windows settings to change it. It's important to note that if you have QuickBooks installed on multiple computers, you should ensure they are all using the same date format for consistency.

Ideally, Windows 11 shows the time and date in the format that matches your region, which is determined when you set up your PC. However, you may want to change the format from the default for your system language. Fortunately, you can easily make this change.

So here's what you need to get the right date and time format on your Windows PC:

  1. Open the Settings app. You can find it in the Start menu or by using the Windows search bar.
  2. Select Time & language on the left-side menu.
  3. Click Language and region.
  4. Expand the Regional format field by clicking it (don't click the dropdown menu inside it).
  5. Click Change formats.
  6. Use the First day of the week dropdown menu to choose which day of the week should be first on a calendar.
  7. Click the Short date dropdown menu to change the format for short dates (such as in the taskbar).
  8. Click the Long date dropdown menu to change the Long date format.
  9. If you'd also like to change the time format, do the same for Short time and Long time.

This makes it possible to get the ideal time and date format for you without having to add more languages to your PC, even if it takes a bit more work.
