Fixed asset message

I am trying to add fixed assets into QBE in the month of January, 2019. QB is not allowing me to add them as of 2019 and gives me the message "The date placed in service cannot exceed the current year end."  I have already posted JE's into January and February of 2019 so I know that the period is open.  Is there someplace I need to go in the FA module to open a period?

Thanks!

Fixed asset message

Good day, PSTARR.

Let me help you with adding fixed assets for the month of January via QuickBooks.

Due to accounting practices including Fiscal and Short Years, assets in a client file may have been purchased in different calendar years. FAM software supports multiple calendar years. However, due to TAX LAW CHANGES, we recommend purchasing FAM every year.

Once the dates are set for the client file in the FAM program they are used for that file:

  1. Check the dates used for the client file
  2. Open or verify the client file is open then
  3. Select file and then from the drop down
  4. select Client information
  5. select the tab Dates (WARNING DO NOT CHANGE THESE DATES)

You can get more details in this article: Fixed Asset Manager - The Date Placed in Service Cannot Exceed the Current Year End.

Also, you may find these articles helpful:

If the problem persists, as a workaround, you can create a new client file. Enter the new assets in there and then paste it into the existing client file.

You can always get back to me if you still need help with adding fixed assets in QuickBooks. Have a good one.
