Getting "HTTP Status 500 – Internal Server Error" error message when trying to setup payroll in Quickbooks online. Any ideas?

Hi @ajaz85,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can help you fix the error message so you can process payroll in QuickBooks Online.

The browser's stored cache sometimes causes unusual behavior like the error message on your end. You can perform some basic troubleshooting to isolate and fix the issue.

Please start by using a private browser to open your account and see if you can click the Done option without any error. It doesn't use the cache, which stores data that creates browser-related issues.

Use these keyboard shortcuts depending on the browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

If you can save the state tax info successfully, switch back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This helps to restore the default setup of the browser.

In case private browsing doesn't work, use another supported web engine to figure out if the issue is browser-related.

I tried clearing the cache and using private browsers.  I got the same internal server error.
