Ridiculous.
Have set up the QB Bluetooth card reader, but the sales tax does not allow the entry of decimals, such as 7.75%. Yes, I've read that it picks up the sales tax by GPs coordinates, but I still want the freedom to add sales tax or not. A service item is not taxed; a tangible item is. I have not even used the app yet, because I don't trust the sale tax to computer correctly. Am using Desktop Pro and have been since 1998.
Can anyone tell me where I can manually enter in the sales tax when processing a sale on the QB bluetooth reader like I can on a credit card processor or in Stripe? From what I can tell, I cannot perform that simple process. I cannot enter 7.75% anywhere on the sale.
It clearly says "sales tax will not be automatically calculated for all amounts and items. You must have the sales tax switch "ON" for the amount or the item for it to be automatically calculated." Well, I can't enter our sales tax rate 7.75% and when I try to leave sales tax on with nothing entered, it auto switches off. I'd like to get my money back on the bluetooth credit card swiper. It's not right that a product is sold that cannot process a decimal sales tax rate. We got the freebie credit card swiper with the audio jack that doesn't work in the lightning port of an iPhone.
So I tried entering 77%. So it adds 77% sales tax to the item purchase. Needs to be fixed, either with a refund on this product or a solution that works.
Hi there, Qu1kBkUser.
I know how important for your business to able to enter a sales tax with decimals. Let me point you in the right direction to rectify the issue.
We’ll have to review how the credit card swiper is installed as well as the items. This is to check why you’re unable to enter the 7.75% sales tax.
Since we value the security of your company, I recommend reaching out to our Payments Support Team. They can perform in-depth troubleshooting in a secure space. Once the solution is available, our specialists will assist you on how to apply it.

I AM SO ANGRY. THIS IS MY BUSINESS AND WE CAN'T EVEN PROCESS A CREDIT CARD SALE THROUGH INTUIT. I HAVE A MERCHANT ACCOUNT AND CAN'T EVEN GET THROUGH TO A HUMAN BEING. YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SEND ME A LINK TO A HELP BOX WHERE I HAVE TO ASK A QUESTION. IT'S NOT HOW THE READER IS SET UP, IT'S THE INTERFACE. IT BRINGS UP A PHONE KEYPAD IN WHICH YOU CAN'T ENTER DECIMALS. WE'RE PROBABLY GOING TO GO BACK TO THE OLD FASHIONED RELIABLE CREDIT CARD TERMINAL BECAUSE THIS DOESN'T WORK FOR OUR HIGH END GALLERY.
I'VE HAD A MERCHANT ACCOUNT FOR HOW MANY YEARS AND WHEN I CALL I CAN'T EVEN GET PAST THE COMPUTERIZED VOICE WHICH IS ASKING FOR OUR BUSINESS PHONE NUMBER WHICH APPARENTLY ISN'T EVEN ASSOCIATED TO OUR BUSINESS ACCOUNT. NICE WORK INTUIT.
SO, IF YOU WANT TO SEND A LINK, SEND A PHONE NUMBER FOR THE MERCHANT SERVICE. THANKFULLY THE CUSTOMERS WERE ABLE TO WRITE A CHECK FOR $3K.
We've streamlined the process our users can contact the Technical Support teams, @Qu1kBkUser.
The reason why there are no longer any Technical Support team numbers available on our pages is for security. Being able to contact them within the product ensures you're connected to the right support team, depending on your concern.
This is why we provide you the correct link where you can get to our Technical Support team. For QuickBooks Payments concerns, it's this article: Contact Payments or Point of Sale Support. Please take note of their operating hours, so you know when they're available.
Feel free to post a reply if you have other questions about QuickBooks Payments. I'll be around to help you out. Have a great day!
Quickbooks.
Since my last post:
I have not been able to reach Quickbooks support at all because they are closed on the weekends when we do business. We are asking for a refund of our little grey payment processor purchased on 9/2/20.
We've not been able to process one credit card sale because it is not possible to set-up 7.75% sales tax using the GoPayment phone app.
The app uses the standard phone keyboard for making phone calls and stops after the entry of two digits with no decimal options. 7 3/4% (.0775) becomes 77 on the Quickbooks app, since it's not possible to add fractional decimals. Instead of adding $7.75 on a $100 sale, Quickbooks GoPayment adds $77 sales tax for $177. There's no getting around it. Customers want to see the item price and sales tax price. GoPayment doesn't allow fractional decimals.
The dashboard now lists my two businesses multiple times and has the wrong company listed as approved company. It is a mess generated by Quickbooks. No customer support.
WOW!!!!
I think I wrote the post.
It's been having the same experience.
Just spent another 1-1/2 hours on the phone with someone who has no idea what they are doing and then they hung up.
It's terrible, but like you I have been with them forever and the service gets worse everyday.
Looking for other options
