Group Items - How I can make subfolder for groups

In my Mac desktop 2020 I had my group items organized in subfolder under other groups etc.
In 2024 is not possible to do this? When my company file was upgraded in 2024 all my groups are showing out in a long list, they are not organized in subfolders like I can do with items.

Group Items - How I can make subfolder for groups

Thanks for bringing up your question about managing inventory items in the Community, ARIFC. I'd be happy to share details to help with your inquiry.

I'd like to inform you that there haven't been any major changes in the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop for Mac when it comes to creating or managing items. The ability to create groups or folders for group items and inventories is still available in QuickBooks 2024.

For detailed information on adding and managing items, please refer to Page 60 to 65 of the QuickBooks Mac Plus User’s Guide.

You can also follow these steps on how to create group items:

  1. Go to the List menu and select Items.
  2. Click the + menu at the bottom and click New Item.
  3. Choose Group in the Type field of the New Item window,
  4. In the Group Name/Number field, enter a name or number for the group item.
  5. Enter all other details of the group item.
  6. Click OK.

Once done, drag the group items under a different one to create a sub-folder.

If you are unable to access the same grouping feature after upgrading to the latest version, I would recommend reaching out to our dedicated support team. They will be able to thoroughly investigate your company file and settings to determine the cause of the issue.

Here's an article on how to reach out to them: Contact QuickBooks Desktop Support.

Moreover, you can check out the following articles as you explore and start using the latest version of QuickBooks for Mac:

Group Items - How I can make subfolder for groups

Hi again,

Unfortunately we cannot make subfolders.

We cannot drag a group under one other and create subfolders like in items.

This should be a bag or something changed in the new 2024 version comparing to the old 2020.

can you please check and let is know the solution?
