I've got the steps to help you access your company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on your computer.
First, make sure your QBDT is updated to the latest release. Next, ensure that the file you're trying to open is a company file (.QBW). Other file types, such as backups (.QBB) and portable files (.QBM), cannot be opened in the same way. Also, verify that your file isn't compressed or encrypted.
