Yes same problem here! Worked fine in December and before that for the last 20 years (or longer). Now the customer merge simply never opens Word with the completed document. No error or anything. Same for all templates, even the ones that came with QB. Tried creating a new template. Tried the QB Tool. Tried repairing both QB and Microsoft 365. Tried Office all the way back to Office 2007. Reinstalled the current MS 365. Tried on other computers I have. Changed all the trust center, addin, macro, network permission and content settings in word I could find. I can edit templates and the fields populate but the DDE exchange never merges through. Nothing. Pretty disasterous because I need this function every month!!! I have self signed VBA projects that pipe Outlook data to Word and that works just fine. I'm going to have to hire a monk to transcribe documents. QB communicates with Excel fine.
<edit> Also tried with QB2019 that has a build from 3/2022, QB2019 with the current build and QB2022 current build. All on Windows 11.
I am having the same issue. I've tried many of the same fixes; none worked. Spent the morning with QB help desk, in the end they said it was a problem with Word and MS 365 being "click to run" version. Said I had to contact Microsoft to ask for a physical install of MS 365 instead of click-to-run. Microsoft says there is no such thing as a physical install. It's cloud-based, but the program is installed on my computer. I really feel like I'm getting the run around from both sides. No-one knows the solution. Since others are having the same issue, I'd say QB needs to fix this... This is a serious problem! It must be related to a recent update!
I am having the same issue. I've tried many of the same fixes; none worked. Since others are having the same issue, I'd say QB is the issue, also because QB exports to Excell without any issues. This is a serious problem! I feel it is related to a recent update since the issue began after an update! I use this feature every week and now it is costing me time.
The problem exists on older versions of Office and older versions on QB now.
The issue has been resolved with the latest windows update.
I wanted to share a success that I just had with this issue. When I attempted to run my Customer Letters through QB Desktop Premier 2021, I was receiving a Windows Security Virus & Threat protection warning. Essentially, Windows Security Defender was blocking this action. I ran a Windows update, and then had our IT person "whitelist" the qbword.dot app. And after this, I was able to create my Word letters again!!
