Buy nowThe 'billable items' are from a 2023 bill, and they cannot be removed from the customer that I wish to make inactive.
Hello there, OldMichiganAI. You can mark the items as unbillable in an old bill once the Make expenses and items billable feature is turned on.
Since you've downgraded, may I know what is your current subscription plan? If you're using Simple Start or Essentials, this feature is unavailable in these plans. Therefore, you won't be able to mark items as unbillable and, consequently, cannot make the customer inactive.
However, if you've downgraded from Advanced to the Plus subscription, here's how you can ensure the Make expenses and items billable option is enabled:
Activating this feature will display the Billable column on the Bill page. Once this is visible, you'll be able to mark items as unbillable and proceed with making the customer inactive.

Thank you for your response. You confirmed my fear that, because I downgraded to Simple Start, I cannot fix the problem. Though being unable to mark an old customer inactive is an irritant, I don't find value in the higher tiers of QuickBooks for my business at this time.
