How can I retrieve a Form 1099?

A client just sent me an email (via QuickBooks) my 1099 tax form. When I clicked to download it, I got the "spinny wheel of death." When I finally clicked out of that screen and tried again, I got the lovely message that my invitation had expired, and that I needed to contact the company. How is this a good system?

How can I retrieve a Form 1099?

Hey there, @lenwoods-gmail-c.

Sounds like your link expired, but the solution is easy! I'm happy to share the steps your client will need to take to resend you this.  They can go to your contractor's profile to email the invite again. Here's how:

  1. Select Payroll from the sidebar menu.
  2. Go to the Contactors tab.
  3. Choose the contractor from the list.
  4. In the contractor's profile, click the Send a reminder link.
  5. From the Send a reminder window, click Send to resend the email.

I'm attaching a helpful article on 1099s for you to reference as well: Get answers to your 1099 questions.

Let me know if I can assist with anything else! I'm here, just leave a comment below.

Same! How do I get my 1099 when the “invitation” is expired and I never even saw my 1099? I want to be sure the numbers are correct.

How can I retrieve a Form 1099?

Hello, mzadventures1.

I'd like to hop in and make sure you're able to get and review your 1099 form.

We'll want to contact your client to resend the invitation link to view and check your 1099 form. Though, we can also ask them to email the 1099 copy to you for review.

Your client may have sent you a copy already, so it's worth checking your inbox to see if this is the case.

Once you've accepted the fresh invitation link, we can check the form from QuickBooks Self-Employed. Simply go to the Clients menu, then click the Forms tab.

I'll add this article in case you need a reference in managing your 1099 forms: Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Are you also using Self-Employed to file and handle your estimated taxes? Take a look at this article in case you  need help in the near future: Pay federal estimated quarterly taxes in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
