How can I send a sales receipt that includes the descriptions of the labor and supplies? All it shows is the totals

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can leverage the Description column within the Products and Services table to provide detailed information about your labor and supplies. By entering clear and precise descriptions, you enhance transparency and ensure your customers fully understand the charges on their invoices.

 

For detailed steps, here's how:

 

  1. Go to + New from the left navigation menu and Sales receipt.
  2. Choose the customer, then select or add the product/service from the dropdown for each labor or supply item.
  3. Enter detailed descriptions in the description field for each line item.
  4. Adjust quantity and rate as needed.
  5. Click Save and Close to apply your changes.

If you’ve already entered detailed descriptions but your sales receipts still only show totals, I recommend accessing your account through an incognito window. This will help rule out any potential webpage issues. Here are the shortcut keys in various supported browsers:
