Just like the option of choosing a sub-customer's parent customer, how can we choose a different parent account for a project, or in other words, how can we transfer a project to another parent account?
Hi @Ruben,
I got you covered in this query. Although there isn't an option to change the assigned parent customer to any given projects, you can change the parent customer assigned to the project's transactions. This, in turn, transfers the transactions to a different project.
Let me show you how:
Repeat the steps above on all the transactions you want to transfer to a different project.
Speaking of the Projects feature, this allows you to track your income, costs, and profits. Take a look at this article for additional details: Track income, costs, and profitability by project.
If you need anything else, let me know. Leave a comment below, and I'll get back to you.
But we might have hundreds of transactions per project, do you mean we will have to change it one by one?
Thanks for coming back, Ruben.
The option to change the parent customer assigned to the project's transactions in a batch action is unavailable. We need to manually open per transaction to edit the customer name to a different parent customer. Just follow the steps provided by my colleague.
I know how beneficial it is to your business to change the parent customer account in one click. I'll personally share your feedback with our engineers regarding this one.
I have articles here for more details about the Projects feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO):
I'm just one click away if you need a hand with running project reports or any QBO related. I'm always here to assist you. Take care always.
Yes, please. We hope that Projects can have the same flexibility as Sub-Customers. For a long time, it was already part of our routine that during transaction auditing, we frequently correct transactions tagged to incorrect customers, etc. We were not warned that the flexibility will be gone when we convert the Sub-Customers into Projects. There's no going back now. Changing hundreds of transactions one by one won't do it since it's very inefficient.
