How do I categorize an investment into another company?

I'm a 1 man show but recently bought a stake in another company that I help run.  The investment came out of my company profits and they will issue common shares in my company name.  How would I categorize that in my books?

Thanks in advance.

If your company purchases stock in Co. XYZ, then create an Other Asset account called 'Investment in Co. XYZ' and assign that account to the payment made for the purchase.  To clarify, purchasing stock does not come out of company profits (it's an asset purchase, not an expense), it comes out of your cash.
