Buy nowHow do I change the dashboard to the old style
I understand how challenging it can be to adjust to changes, especially when you were previously comfortable with how things worked, Localsec.
The option to switch back to the old interface is no longer available. The primary update involves the appearance of QuickBooks Online, but its core workflows, accounting features, and your data remain the same.
While there's no option to switch back to the old layout, you can submit your comments or input to our product engineers. We value your experience, as it helps us identify areas that need improvement.
Here's how you can do it:

The new UI is seriously so bad. I also really hate it. I have no idea why Intuit is too stupid to listen to its customers, nobody likes this new UI. Its dogwater. I swear their motto is "lets make things worse for our customer base and charge ridiculous amounts of money to do so!"
This sums it up perfectly.
Thanks again, Intuit, for making it take even longer for me to perform every single task.
Agree! It's awful. Junk at the top I have to scroll past. Matching transactions only halfway works now. It's hot garbage.
I am a small business and do not have time to figure out what the heck you have done to the UI. I find it completely unusable and would like to revert back to the old UI.
I will agree with everyone else here. I'm not paying what I do each month for this to be all flashy and "New" looking. I need to go on there, get done what I need to and get back to running my business. This new layout is an atrocity.
It needs to be simple and fast, not flashy.
This new UI is absolutely horrible - who decided this was a good idea. I am sure small business is your core clientele and now you are making it harder for us to do our daily tasks. Do not give me a line of a more modern look. No one cares what it looks like, we only want to go in and take care of our accounting tasks and get it done efficiently so we can go back and run our business's. The team who designed this should be fired!

"If it's not broke, don't fix it! Put the desktop view back!
I can not find all of my recurring transactions. This update is horrible. If I can’t get my old version back I will be looking for a different company.
I understand that the old layout's familiarity is necessary to you, @Homesbycari. These changes are designed to bring tools, AI agents, and collaboration features into one place to help customers work more efficiently.
Please note that switching back to the old layout is no longer available. But I'll guide you on how quickly locate your recurring transactions. Here's how:

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
THE LAYOUT TOTALLY SUCKS-THE OPINION OF EVERY BOOKKEEPER AND ACCOUNTANT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OR READ THEIR REVIEWS.
QBO, please stop trying to gaslight us. There is a difference between getting used to a new layout and navigating bad UI. The new interface is Apple Maps bad. Did small businesses and accounting professionals even test the new layout before it was launched? Accounting requires thoroughness and accuracy, and having to wade through pointless busy graphics is not helpful, it's a mind scrambling cluster cuss.
This exactly thread says it all!
The new interface is not a new modern look that Intuit might have us believe. It's a ugly eyesore of a mess, that makes navigation harder, using the interface a strain on the eyes. I am all for new modern looks, provided it maintains or improves functionality and usability, this does the exact opposite of both of those.
Whoever designed it, and whoever signed off on it clearly does not use Quickbooks on a daily basis at all, otherwise they would have not thought this was a good idea.
I am fed up of Intuit constantly changing this, more recently how reports are run, that I am done and I am lucky that it's not too long to my financial year end, I just have enough time to get some training on another software that my accountants have been encouraging me to switch to. So after 18 years, it's goodbye Quickbooks, all because you kept meddling and making things worse for small business users to actually use your software.
THIS LAYOUT IS CRAP! Why do you guys do this. Make wholesale changes with no warning or consideration of your customers. Give me a Quickbooks alternative and I am all over it!!!! Who runs this place?
I've just handed in my resignation at this biotech company I've been working (part-time) for since 2009. The owner very stupidly decided against my strong objections to migrate from QBD to QBO at the end of 1Q24. The transition was a nightmare and after almost 2 yrs, I'm only about 75% as productive as I was under QBD.
But this morning when I opened my QBO I was assaulted by and UI that could only have been designed by Salvadore Dali. And to add insult to injury, you can't revert back to the old UI! So I just handed in my resignation to the owner with an offer to write up a procedures manual if he wants one.
But fear not, my major source of income is a commercial real estate management firm that very wisely decided to stick with QBD, so I'm devoting more time to that client.
Intuit, I cannot expresses my degree of disappointment for the utter disrespect that you show to your long-time, loyal customers.
You are posting words and screenshots to this forum that NO ONE wants to read! You can tap dance all you like, seems like the vast majority of users want the old UI back, stop insulting us by telling us that this was done for our own good. We are adults and professionals, but you treat your customers as if we were ill-behaved children.
It's awful. I just got hit with it today. User unfriendly and takes forever to find everything. I don't know what they're thinking. User unfriendly! It's obvious they don't care about their customers.
Can I customize the dashbord? I'd like to make if fuctional for me. I don't need AI updates and forcasts and the like. Just links to customers, vendors, my accounts and reports. If I can get this situated on my PERSONAL dashbord, I can ignore all the flash.
THIS WOULD BE FANTASTIC!
I agree. My boss pleaded with me to try to make sense out of this new UI layout and, NGL, it's cosmic chaos.
I'm an accountant not a marketing person, but if I did ad copy for Intuit, my ad campaign would be along these lines:
"We're Intuit, when we smack you, you'll take it and you'll like it! Thank you for your continued patronage!"
Hello. I understand that tasks seems easier when the dashboard is tailored to your specific business needs.
Please know that the dashboard can only be modified by adding or removing widgets. While customization for direct access to your preferred features isn’t available yet, we encourage you to share your feedback with our developer team. Your suggestions will be reviewed and may be considered for future updates.
Here's how:
Let us know if you have other concerns. We're here to help.
I have resolved to use this widgety dashboard, as if I had a choice, and would like to pass on a couple of tips. Things that ameliorate the pain of this change—first one is that once the home page opens up, I immediately scroll down to hide the AI junk at the top. That removes some of the most annoying aspects from view, and as has oft been said, "out of sight, out of mind."
Next, take the time to rearrange the widgets so the dashboard works better for your workflow. It's annoying as the widgets themselves often offer far, far too many bells and whistles, but some widgets offer customization, which again, offers palliative care for us. The nonsense is still there, but reduced.
USE THAT gear to provide relentless negative reactions and offer good suggestions.
Finally, try the oxymoronic app they offer: a desktop "QuickBooks Online" app. Yes. You read that right. A desktop app for QuickBooks Online. A non SAAS version of the SAAS we all love to hate. I've played with it a bit, but I don't have the time to dive into it. Best of luck.
