How do I create a budget for the next (fiscal) based on all classes of the current fiscal year? Doesnt work when I create a (subdivided) budget based on the current year

Hello there, @houstonwb.

There are multiple reasons why only a few entries are randomly assigned to classes after setting up a budget in QuickBooks Online. Here is some detailed information on this matter.

Given that you already created a (subdivided) budget based on the current year but only get a few random entries into classes. It's possible that during the current fiscal year, not all transactions were consistently assigned to classes. If some transactions were not associated with any class, those would not appear classified in your budget view.

To resolve this you can go through your transaction records for the current fiscal year and ensure that all entries are correctly assigned to appropriate classes you can follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings ⚙ and choose All Lists.
  2. Click on Classes.
  3. Locate the class you wish to review.
  4. Click on Run report.

When configuring your budget, ensure that it is set up to correctly categorize entries. Verify that this setting is correctly implemented, as any misconfiguration may lead to incomplete class entries being displayed. By addressing these issues, you can ensure that your budget accurately reflects all class data for the upcoming fiscal year.

Most transactions have Classes.

I suspect that my problems are from the "Subdivide for", "Add subdivided budget for" or "View budget for" dropdown boxs. Can you explain these functions?

Have a good holiday.

The functions of these options are to help users manage and organize budgets effectively in QuickBooks, houstonwb. Here’s a simplified explanation for each of them.

  1. Subdivide for: This option lets users break their budget into smaller, specific parts, such as departments or projects, to track expenses better and manage finances.
  2. Add subdivided budget: This allows users to add more detailed segments within an existing budget, ensuring comprehensive financial planning and budget coverage.
  3. View budget for: This function enables users to review the budget details for particular segments or the entire budget, helping them monitor spending and make better financial decisions based on budget comparisons.
