Hello, Chasity. To point you in the right direction, may I know what account you are trying to delete? Any additional details will help me guide you to the correct resolution.
If it's an account under Chart of Accounts, you can make them inactive by heading to the
Accounting menu >
Chart of Accounts > click the
dropdown arrow next to
View register >
Make inactive. Please note that some
default and special accounts can't be deactivated because QuickBooks keeps these records to protect your tax history.
Additionally, when you
make an account inactive, your existing transactions will not disappear. They remain in your general ledger and continue to impact your financial reports like your Balance Sheet or Profit and Loss to ensure your historical data stays accurate.
If you meant another account in QuickBooks, feel free to share the details by leaving a reply below. We’re always here to help.
