How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

The pop-up notifications are designed to suggest and guide you on how to improve your QuickBooks experience. I understand that the ads may affect your navigation, however, the option to disable them permanently is currently unavailable. The good news is, you can click on the X or No, thanks buttons to remove the pop-ups from your QuickBooks homepage.

While the option is not yet available, I'll take note of this so our developers will know that this is something that they need to consider removing. Rest assured they're working nonstop to enhance the product and deliver the best experience for all QuickBooks users.

You can turn most of this junk off with QB Desktop, which is better than QB Online in most ways.

I am looking for a new accounting platform because these pop up ads are that annoying. It is an egregious misuse of our trust to not allow paying subscribers to disable these kinds of adds.  

When you take a flight, and the flight attendant offers you a mileage credit card, that is one thing. However what if that flight attendant continually pestered you every time he/she went up or down the aisle, you would be furious if this kind of harassments could not be stopped.

I recognize how important it is to flawlessly supervise your business in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Please know this isn't the kind of impression I want you to have with QBO.

The pop-ups are designed to guide our users in seamlessly navigating their ways around QBO. Since this hindrance you in running your business, I recommend clicking on the X or No, thanks buttons to remove the pop-ups.

Another way is to enable the pop-up blocker of your browser. This prevents pop-ups to show up. Let me show you how: 

1. Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar.  
2. Select Site settings (Google Chrome) or Permission for this site (Mozilla browser).
3. Hover to the Pop-ups and redirects section, and select Block from the drop-down menu. 

For Safari browser:
 

1. Open your Safari browser.
2. Click Safari, then Preferences
3. Select Websites at the top
4. Click Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar
5. Then select Block in the pop-up menu for website.

You can also search online for additional guidance on how to block pop-ups depending on the browser you're using.

Additionally, I suggest sending your feedback to our Product Developer team. This way, they can review and consider adding it in the future updates.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, Chrome is already set to block pop-ups, redirects, and ads. 

Your system, which I paid for, should AT LEAST give me the option to snooze this advertisement. I guess I could live with seeing once every 10-15 invoices, and not Every. Single. Time. 

I will cancel my QBO account and probably stop using the intuit tax software in January of next year.  The reason is that I find your ads so annoying.   I will refuse to use intuit products.

I do not see a X anywhere on the ad that appears over the Save and New button for invoices. I thought with the money we are paying for QuickBooks we could choose not see the pop up ads. I could understand seeing something once in a while. I am just tired of seeing the same ad several times a day. Since I keep seeing these ads and you stated there is no way to turn off the ads, I should not pay as much as I am. So how do we get a discount?

I too am soooooooo sick of POPup ads as well as the LOW LIFE, SHIFTY, DECEIVING SHELL GAME they play with well used buttons to trick you into clicking on something they want you to buy.  I was sending an invoice to a customer and instead of the usual "save and send" the button was changed to "save and feed"  so you could get instant money in the amount of the invoice (for a fee of course).   Most of the time I click out of habit.   QBO has stooped to a new low.   We already pay for your service.  Why would you do that to us?????

They need to fix this NOW.

You can disregard them by clicking the X icon or the No, thanks! button. This way, QBO will turn off the ads and remember your choice. Thus, the pop-up won't show up again.

The problems are not the popup ads from my web browser. I see a lot of popup ads on my QuickBooks screen. If the QuickBooks popup ads were just once when I log on the first time a day, I would be fine with that. However, that is not the case. I will see a popup ads several times a day. I go to another screen to post an invoice with a customer, when I click back to QuickBooks I get another popup. I am tired of seeing an ad about adding the inventory control feature or the payroll feature. I. DON'T. WANT. IT. I have to click the X each time to get the ad to go away. This makes my QuickBooks experience very frustrating. I am paying a lot of money to use your service. Is there another rate to be ad free? This is the only accounting software I have used that has this problem. 

I don't use CHROME and never will.  The pop-ups I'm speaking of are ALL Quickbooks generated.    A good and efficient workflow depends on habits...knowing when where to click.  Your switching buttons to trick people into using your products (they don't want)  is an invasion of the workflow.   STOP IT!  (If you really want to make your product better for businesses.)  

Congratulations!!!! Because of this latest problem, we have decided to look for a new accounting software. We will look at the different software packages and make sure there will be no pop ads. We understand about suggestions when we first sign in. However, seeing several pop up ads throughout the day is unacceptable. I will post on here what we decide to use in case other people want suggestions. I am also open to other people's suggestions of comparable accounting software packages.  

After using QBO for just a few weeks, I'm already looking for new accounting software for this very reason. 

The "we're only trying to optimize your experience" line is clearly baloney if there is no way to disable it. And blocking popups in the browser does no good. But then you knew that. This only further erodes any trust in Intuit and reduces the likelihood of anyone recommending it. 

QB used to be an industry standard for small businesses. Now it's just a used car lot with unscrupulous sales people. 

I do not understand why they think they will continue to have customers when they treat us like this. I am also looking to switch to a different accounting software. Please give us a way to turn off the ads. Or, stop charging us to watch your ads supported software.

I’ve been using QuickBooks Online for years — it’s amazing at the progress that the development team has made on the program from the older legacy program.  It’s a shame that these inline advertisements can’t be disabled as a user setting in the application.  You’d think, with as streamlined as the app has become, that this user-first feature could be developed.

I’m with the other folks in this thread — the advertisements are annoying.  It’s a slap in the face to people who pay a subscription to use the accounting functions of the software, and have no interest in the other services.

Yep, it is disheartening. I called my book keeper today to figure out what software we will be switching to. It is so much work to switch accounting software and learn a new program, so I am not looking forward to it. The fact that we now have to order kits to print a 1099 was the final nail in the coffin, but the surveys and ads in the program, especially when trying to do payroll each week... For the 100th time, I do not want a loan!!

I am paying over $100 a month so they can shove surveys and ads down my throat, and make me buy kits to print out yearly forms, what a joke it has become, so greedy.

I have been a quickbooks subscriber for one day after using Quicken products since 1993.  This Pop up ad deal for intuit products and services is UNBELIEVABLE.  The same popups just keep coming.  I will be switching to Sage or whatever other platform my accountant suggests.  I cant deal with that constant distraction.  It severly disturbs workflow to continuously be turning off the individual pop up.  FAIL!!

I agree they are very annoying!  If you want us to have a "better experience" email these suggestions, Rather than  during the middle of working !!     It is an awful way to do this and hope your company can find a better solution soon!!

Please get rid of these upsell's or at least create a setting where users can choose to turn them off.

I have some information about the pop-up ads (upsell ads). Currently, we're unable to turn off the ads in QuickBooks. I understand how this option would help other users to run the program smoothly. 

Rest assured, your experience and idea will be shared with our Developers. It may take time for them to have this feature added to the program, but it's something that our Developers will look into.

Please do follow up, I am looking forward to seeing what you end up going with. I like a lot of the functionality of the program, but can not stand getting interrupted while trying to do payroll or trying to take care of my taxes. I am a business owner, I have a lot to do in a short amount of time. The ads and interruptions turn what should be a simple routine task into a game of whack-a-mole some days.

Glad to hear this is finally getting some traction. I hope they can put some serious time into disabling the pop up. You would think it would not be that hard to change it backwards to what it was a year ago.

I just spent an hour in chat with a QBO specialist, I wish I had checked here sooner.  The entire time they are pretending they have no idea what I'm talking about.  This has pushed me over the edge as well, I used to really like the features of QBO, but having to wade through endless popups and predatory advertising has become half the work load of using it.  I'm looking for new software also.
