I appreciate you reaching out, Jkpeach. You can void a check entered by mistake from the Expenses tab to correct your records. I'll be glad to walk you through the steps.
Voiding the check will ensure that the payment is reversed in both your bank account and in the Accounts Payable account. Follow these steps to void the check:
- Go to the Expenses from the left side menu.
- Use the transaction filter dropdown to select Checks.
- Filter the appropriate dates and then select Apply.
- Find the check transaction.
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the check and select Void.
- A prompt will appear asking, "Are you sure you want to void this transaction?" If you are sure, select Void.

Once done, the transaction will still appear in your records. However, don’t worry, while the record of the check remains in QuickBooks, it will not affect your books.
Additionally, you can also view details of the deleted transaction in the Audit Log for complete transparency.
