How do my staff clock in on a computer? And can I have computer automatically log them out when the computer goes into sleep mode

You can utilize a third-party application or do it through QuickBooks products to help you set a clock-in and clock-out time on your device. Also, please know that the option to log out staff when the computer is inactive isn't an option at the moment, Katie. We'll provide more details below to resolve your inquiry.

If you're using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) version only, you can integrate a third-party application to achieve this and have it ready in your company file. However, if you have a QuickBooks Time subscription connected to your account,  you can set up a clock-in and clock-out for your employees. To add a third-party app, here's how:

  1. On the left navigational bar, go to the Apps tab.
  2. In the Find Apps section, enter a keyword in the Search tab.
  3. Look for one that provides the needed feature.
  4. When you're ready, click on the app and then select the Get app now button.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

You can also check this article if you have a QuickBooks Time subscription to help set employee's time in and out in your company file: Get started with QuickBooks Time.

On the other hand, feel free to check out this page to help you manage employee time entries in QuickBooks: Approve, unapprove, and reject timesheets.

We highly encourage you to leave a comment below if you need a helping hand in handling employees and time entries in QuickBooks. We'll make sure to respond promptly and address your inquiries.
