how do you switch from standard miles

Hello, @jay133.

QuickBooks uses the standard mileage method to calculate your taxes by default. Before changing this, it’s important to know that the actual expense method lets you deduct the real costs of using your vehicle for business. This includes expenses like gas, oil, repairs, tires, car insurance, registration fees, licenses, and depreciation or lease payments.

By switching, you can track your miles and vehicle expenses in QuickBooks. At the end of the year, you can decide which deduction method you want to use for tracking your business mileage.

If you're uncertain, consulting a tax professional can provide valuable guidance in selecting the most advantageous method for calculating your vehicle's business use.

I'm also including this article in case you encounter any issues tracking your mileage: Fix mileage tracking issues in the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

Stay in touch if you require additional help managing your mileage records, @jay133. I'm always here to lend a hand for help. Stay safe!
