How to confirm that transactions are correctly allocated.

Is there a way to look at all transactions in a specific bank or credit card account to see if they were checked as billable and to what customer/project they were assigned to?  In other words is there a column in the register that will show if the expense was assigned to a customer/project OR is there a report that I can run for each bank or credit card account that shows every transaction and how it was assigned, whether as a company expense/income or project expense/income? What I want to do is make sure that each transaction was correctly checked as billable or not and to what customer, so that I'm not missing transactions for a project.  I keep finding transactions where, even though I checked the box and assigned the customer/project, somehow the box cleared and didn't bill to the project, but the only way I find them is because I'm looking for a specific transaction in the project and can't find it. I have to go back to the bank register, search for it, click on view/edit transaction, then click on the bill and correct it. Surely there's a way that I can run a report to make sure all transactions are correctly allocated to our company or a specific customer without having to click on each and every transaction and bill???

Thank you for visiting the community today, PLSwnc.

I understand how vital it is for your company to have a built-in report that automatically shows unbilled or billed transactions to specific customers as well as the account to which they are assigned. The time you'll save by not having to manually open the entries to see whether they are billable and the assurance that you won't miss one, particularly for a project, are two benefits of adding this functionality.

I recommend that you send this suggestion directly to our product engineers for consideration in future updates. Here's how:

  1. Tap the Gear icon in the upper right and choose Feedback under Profile.
  2. This will open a window where you can enter your suggestions.
  3. Make sure to key in your feedback in the field box.
  4. Click Next to submit it.

I don't want to leave you empty-handed. I've added some links to help you customize the information on a statement, including a list of the reports available in each QBO version:

To learn more about the Projects function and how to track your profitability, click here to view the full details of the article. It includes information on tracking expenses and items by a customer in the Expense section and adding existing expenses, invoices, or timesheets to a project.

If you need further assistance while working in QBO or have additional questions about billable expenses or projects, drop a comment below and tag my name. I'll jump right back in to help and make sure you're taken care of. Have a good one and stay safe, PLSwnc.
