How to process a store return when the transaction is reconciled?

My client bought an item for the business at Lowes and then returned the item. They have a refund on their business debit card which is the same card they used to purchase the item. The purchase transaction is reconciled, but not the return. Is showing income but i don't feel it should be like that. Can someone help. Im using QBO.

Thank you!

I appreciate the screenshot, Jessy1991--.

You can create a Refund receipt to record the return item in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Before doing so, make sure you did not enter a credit memo for this to avoid double refund.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the + New icon.
  2. Under Customer, choose Refund receipt or Give refund.

  3. Fill in the necessary information and make sure to fill the quantity, rate, amount, tax, and other fields accordingly.
  4. Click Save and close.

You can read through this article on how about recording customer refunds in QuickBooks Online (QBO): Record a customer refund in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, you'll need to consult an accountant for better guidance in handling reconciled transactions. They can provide more expert advice in dealing with this type of concern.

I'm just a few clicks away if you have any follow-up questions. Take care and have a good one.
