The same account it is having issues on all three android devices and zero of the three iphone devices I have logged into. All of which are on the most current versions of the apps.
I have the screenshots from the app. Its this forum which isn't letting me post the images. I think it might let me this time (though it only allows one photo) so we'll see.
I'm planning on reaching out to customer service tomorrow but based on your experience with them it doesn't sound like it will make a difference.
It's pretty clearly a bug from the newest android app update but quickbooks doesn't want to take responsibility for it or fix it. This isn't the first time an android quickbooks app update has messed up sales tax but it is the first time it's done it in such a way that makes the app basically not usable.
I really hope they can fix it because it will be an absolute pain to transfer 6yrs of business over to a new software provider.
Are you thinking that the problem is due to an Android phone software update? Or an update to QBO for Android? I have a Samsung S22+ with One UI version 6.0, Android version 14.
As for posting here, I have no problem posting, but for some reason the result is not something that is open for eyes to see within the post. I have to download the attachment and view it in a program on my pc.
I was thinking its because of an update of QBO on android. The app store shows they released an update on March 25th which is around when my employees and I started having problems. Idk why else there would suddenly be issues with all our android users when no settings or anything have been changed on our end.
That is exactly when the problem started for me. I was able to send a receipt from my phone in the morning, and by the afternoon Sales Receipts wouldn't work anymore.

I'm having the exact same problem as you guys. I'm also on Android. For me it started on Friday, March 29. Presumably I got the update the night of the 28th. It was working up until that point. I can no longer create invoices. When I go to select the sales tax rate, it glitches out. At first it was crashing the app entirely. Now it just shows blank sales tax rate. It is completely broken. Unusable. I'm not sure why they had to break a perfectly functional app. Did you guys notice they also eliminated the ability to add appointments to Google Calendar from the QuickBooks app? I am VERY VERY unhappy with this change. This is going to cause so much double entry for me. Infuriating doesn't even begin to describe this situation.
I've had a problem with the way they do their updates for years. It seems like some executives need to justify their paycheck and change things around in the app or the website, just because they can. What it really does is add confusion and frustration for the paying users. We have to constantly get used to a new layout, but it doesn’t actually increase the usability of the program, or have usefull new features.
UPDATE!
Hey all! I was able to chat with customer service today and good/bad news. Good news is they are aware of the issue and working on it. Bad news is we just have to wait until they fix the app and use the browser version in the mean time.
I appreciate your effort in keeping this thread updated about the progress of your concern, @Sggrooming.
You're correct that we have received reports about the unavailability of the QuickBooks Mobile App to populate sales taxes on estimates and invoices. With that, I'd like to encourage everyone experiencing the same to contact our Technical Support Team to add them to the list of users reporting the same concern. For now, we can follow the workaround suggested by the support you spoke with to add sales taxes by logging into your mobile or web browsers.
Moreover, you can go over to this article to learn about recording, adjusting, and deleting sales tax payments in QuickBooks: Manage sales tax payments in QuickBooks Online.
I'll keep this thread open for everyone to share and post their queries. The Community is available 24/7 to help. Take care!
Also have been having this issue since February. App updated on my phone, and have the exact same thing happen. My two co-workers have no issue, QBO App (android on all our work phones) looks like it did before on theirs. (one is new hire no admin, one is partner and co-admin). Their version allows setting the tax rate for the invoice as a whole, mine still asks for each item's rate, and crashes when I attempt to set it up.
Have had no issue like this from 2017-now.
Receipts still not working. Android 22+.

I am having the same issue for 2 weeks now and it is a pain. QB updated something and messed it up.
I'm having same problem for the past 6 months. It started when I was experiencing data sync issues and still do and had to delete the app and re-install. Now I can't create invoices because now when I choose an item it's saying select tax rate and when I select from drop down box it's says error every time. I am the owner and not employee. I use android S20 Plus. This is definitely becoming a problem for me. I am even willing to buy an iPad as long as this will be solved. If anyone out there can suggest a better platform other than quickbooks please let me know?

Deleting and re-adding the app seems to make matters worse. Some users suggest that there is a connection to Android phones. The other day I noticed that they updated the software once again and now I have some functionality with receipts, but only if doesn't involve sales tax.
Thanks for the info. After getting discouraged of the last 5 updates not doing anything, I just updated the app again this morning and the issue appears to be fixed.
How do you update the app?
I logged out of mine and it took a long time to load but then it worked correctly. About time....
Just visited the play store in Android and looked up the app and saw that an update was available.
Yes! That worked for me too!
Finally!
Go to your play store and search for quickbooks online and you will see update tab there. Once you update and open quickbooks go to the gear icon top left corner of Quickbooks app and tap on refresh data. This should work for you!
A little odd that an update had to be initiated through the app store instead of being automatic, but I will take what I can get. It does appear that the troubles I had with sales receipts for two months is now solved.
Until the next Spladle,

Well, the spladle arrived sooner than I expected. While I can complete a sales receipt and it isn't doing the weird sales tax-per-item thing that it was doing before, it is now not adding any tax at all. This is what I see: the items I am selling are taxable, on the drop down list of tax rates there are rates present with percentages, but as soon as I select a rate for the sales receipt, the rate changes to ZERO.
Check your sales receipts carefully. Run a test receipt if necessary. Is anyone experiencing this?

With this most recent update on the app I can finally create invoices with the correct tax amount however when saving it gets stuck in the "saving" loading screen. I have to then back out and choose leave without saving. It does save anyway so while it's an extra annoying step at least it ends with a correct invoice. The same thing happens when deleting it gets stucks on the loading "deleting" screen and I have to hit back to get out of it. When I refresh the client's page the invoice is indeed deleted though.
I appreciate you joining the conversation, @Sggrooming. I'll outline some troubleshooting steps to resolve the latency issues in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app.
In some cases, you may experience delays when saving or deleting your invoices due to the corrupted data in your mobile app. Don't worry. You can follow the steps below to resolve these issues. Before doing so, ensure to update your app to its latest release.
Furthermore, I'll share this article to guide you in recording an invoice payment: Receive an invoice payment using the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

My husband has been STRUGGLING with this too for months. He runs a mobile auto glass service, and is having to call me to take payment on the computer because the app randomly removes sales tax. Very annoying, and the app and chip reader are useless without the correct totals WITH sales tax appearing. Hope it gets fixes soon
