@Joan78  "--I need to get access to my quickbooks that have not been backed up--"

Yeah uh, about that.

I'm going to venture a guess that you do not have access to the old computer.

I had to get a new computer and I need to acces my quickbook account that was not downloaded

Hello there, Joan. There are two main methods to access your QuickBooks Desktop account on your new computer: using the Migrator Tool or manually transferring or reinstalling it. I'm here to expand on this below.

Before we proceed, could you please confirm if you still have access to your old computer, as FishingForAnswer inquired? Knowing this will allow us to tailor our guidance more effectively.

Let’s start with using the Migrator Tool. Here are a few prerequisites to check before you begin:

  • Ensure that your company files are backed up to safeguard your data.
  • You need to be logged in as the Company Admin.
  • Make sure your new computer is connected to the internet.
  • You will need a USB flash drive with sufficient space to store your QuickBooks files. The Migrator Tool will indicate the space required, which is typically between 150 and 250 MB.

Steps to follow on the old computer:

  1. Open QuickBooks, go to the File menu, select Utilities, and then select Move QuickBooks to another computer.
  2. Select I'm Ready, then create a one-time password.
  3. Follow the instructions to choose the USB flash drive you’ll use. Then, wait for the files to be copied.

Steps to follow on the new computer:

  1. Insert the USB flash drive. Due to Windows security restrictions, the Migrator Tool won’t automatically open.
  2. Open the flash drive to view its files and double-click the file Move_QuickBooks.bat to start the migrator.
  3. Enter the password you created, then select Let's go.
  4. Wait for the Migrator Tool to finish. Note: This will depend on the speed of your computer and internet, and the size of your company file(s).

For further details on how the migration tool functions and the steps for the manual method, please refer to the following article: Move or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop to another computer.

If you prefer to manually move just the company files to another computer, this guide will be useful: Move your company files to another computer.

Additionally, you can refer to this article about managing users in the program: Create and manage users and roles in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

Please return to this thread if you have further questions about setting up your QBDT on the new computer, Joan. We're here to answer them the best we can.
