I have a new monitor and I am now unable to see every other line on Lists and Registers

I just installed a new Samsung computer monitor.  Now my background is black for the desktop and for QuickBooks and the fonts are white.  Previously the backgrounds were white with black font.

I don't care about the black background but when I open any list, register, check splits, deposits, etc, every other line is now white and I cannot see anything on the white lines until I click on that line.  This is a big problem.

I have Windows 10 and Accountant Desktop Plus 2024 and several earlier QB's versions.

All my QB versions have the same problem.  My Word also has black background now and white font which I don't care about.

I hope I do not have to return my monitor but I have spent several hours going through all settings I can find on the monitor and in my computer.  I also cannot find anywhere to change the settings within QB's.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you, Mary

You’re moving in the right direction by adjusting both your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) preferences and your new desktop monitor settings, @MaryP5.

Most modern operating systems now support dark mode themes to reduce eye strain or for visual preference. Because of this, we can check and configure your monitor’s settings to a lighter theme, which will change the background from black to white. Please note that I am using Windows 11, so your user interface may look slightly different, but the general steps remain similar:

  1. Click the Windows icon, then search for or select Settings.

  2. Go to the Personalization tab and click Themes.

  3. In the Current theme section, select a light theme.

After making these changes, open your QBDT software and verify whether you can now clearly read every line in your lists or transaction registers. If you need to adjust your company file preferences within QuickBooks, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. Choose Desktop View from the sidebar.
  3. In the Company file color scheme dropdown, select a color scheme that suits you.

  4. Click OK to save the changes.
