Buy nowI have Quickbooks pro 17 will it work with Windows 11 pro 64 bit
It's a pleasure to have you in the Community today, @Tim169.
I understand that you have an existing QuickBooks Desktop and you want to utilize it in your new system unit. Yes. QBDT 2017 will work with the latest Windows operating system, which is Windows 11. However, errors may arise after you've installed the program on your workstation since it's an old version of QuickBooks.
To learn more about this, please see this article: QuickBooks Desktop Microsoft Windows 11 Compatibility.
Also, know that older versions of QBDT is more compatible with the later Windows operating system, such as Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
Additionally, if you wish to learn more about our program's latest release. Feel free to see this page: What’s new in QuickBooks Desktop 2023.

Thanks for dropping by today, @Tim169. I'll be more than happy to have you here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related queries. Take care, and have a good one!
Try to install it in Win 8 compatibility mode.
What sort of "errors" might occur with Quickbooks 2017 if upgrading to Windows 11?
I have 26 years of QB data on our servers and don't want to rely on cloud subscriptions going forward.
I do think Intuit should make "TRUE" Desktop (downloadable) versions to those who have been LIFELONG clients and users of the software and want to continue in that manner.
You can still run QB Desktop 2017 on Windows 11. However, there's a good chance that when you reinstall the license, their servers will block your reactivation attempt. You'll need to use the trial version as a workaround.
Welcome to the Community, Lifelong DESKTOP User. I’d like to provide you with additional information to address your concern.
While QuickBooks Desktop 2017 has served as a reliable tool for many years, it was designed for the operating systems available at the time of its release. To ensure you have the most stable and seamless experience on the newer Windows 11 platform, we recommend moving to a more recent version of QuickBooks Desktop, such as 2020 or later. This step ensures that your software remains fully optimized for your hardware, providing you with the peace of mind that your financial data and daily workflows are supported by the latest technology and security standards.

I understand my QB Pro 2017 version was "made" for earlier Windows versions and I am willing to update my "TRUE" Desktop version to 2020 or later (if available). What I do NOT want to do is be forced into a subscription-based version. Where can I find a DOWNLOADABLE DESKTOP version of Quickbooks, which is compatible with Windows 11 and can handle importing my current data file?
Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Siab,
I can see if I purchase a new computer (which, unfortunately, I'm going to have to do soon) and then want to install OLD Quickbooks 2017 software, it could reject my activation BUT...
If my Quickbooks Pro 2017 is already installed on a computer and then I upgrade the current computer to Windows 11, will I be required to "reactivate" my Quickbooks software?
Also, I'd be open to purchasing a "TRUE" Downloadable Quickbooks DESKTOP version if it's actually ON MY DESKTOP. I have spotty internet and do not want to rely on having access to the cloud to do my work. I also don't want my DATA in the cloud.
I guess my main question is...is there a more recent version of Quickbooks PRO Desktop that is compatable with Windows 11?

When you upgrade to Windows 11 on the same machine, as far as I know, Windows will force you to reinstall all your programs. This means licensed programs will ask to be reactivated.

You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA directly via email. If you are lucky, you can still get a subscription license for QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus for single user.
Hi there. QuickBooks Desktop 2024 is the final version of the Pro lineup officially tested for Windows 11 compatibility. Since Intuit ended the sale of one-time purchase licenses in late 2021, all versions released from 2022 onward are subscription-based.
QuickBooks 2021 was the final version ever sold as a one-time purchase. However, Intuit stopped selling it and there's no Buy Now link for a non-subscription version on the official QuickBooks website today.
In addition, QuickBooks 2017 is not certified for Windows 11. To run natively and reliably on Windows 11 without unexpected crashes, you need QuickBooks Desktop 2022 R3 or a more recent version. Using an unsupported 2017 or 2021 version on Windows 11 means you will not receive security patches, which may leave your financial data vulnerable.

Thank you for your input So...am I understanding you correctly that...
If I upgrade to upgrade to Windows 11, I have absolutely NO OPTION to have a Downloadable (non-subscription) Quickbooks Pro version of software which is compatible? I MUST purchase the subscription version?
Yes, you're correct, @Lifelong DESKTOP User. Let me join this conversation to clarify the current landscape for you, as it has indeed shifted quite a bit recently. There are certainly no downloadable, non-subscription versions of QuickBooks available for purchase.
Along those lines, since the subscription-based Plus versions are also no longer on the market for new U.S. subscribers, the only version available for purchase is QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. This version is fully compatible with Windows 11, so it will work perfectly if you decide to upgrade your operating system.
It’s also worth considering that if you’d prefer not to purchase the Enterprise version, you may want to stay with your current operating system. This would allow you to continue using your QuickBooks Desktop 2017 version.
Don't hesitate to reach out anytime if you have additional questions or want to discuss your options for managing QuickBooks.
Erika_K - I truly appreciate your candid and straight-forward explanation to the current state of affairs when it comes to non-subscription Quickbooks Pro Software.
I am truly disgusted big tech has so much control over the systems business owners have worked hard to develop, maintain and use on a daily basis to remain efficient and grow their business. We should NOT be FORCED to HAVE to "rent" our software and have our data in the cloud where it is vulnerable. Shame on Intuit for eliminating the option for consumers to download, own and have control over their own software.
For Microsoft to also make a completely usable and efficient software no longer valid by forcing consumers to update their operating system is just wrong!
BTW: I hope I'm able to NOT update my OA, I didn't turn off my laptop one night and when I woke up the next morning, Windows had downloaded Windows 11 onto it WITHOUT MY CONSENT - Again...JUST WRONG!
Thank you for listening - I really do appreciate you sharing your knowledge about this matter.
Have you reinstalled your QB Desktop 2017 license?
