QB won't do it, but it can be done using our BRC Enterprise to Pro/Premier Conversion Service

I have the same desire, though the whole experience was less than positive.  I was told at the sale that I could downgrade back to Desktop Pro (2018) if the Enterprise experienced wasn't satisfactory.  The intent was to find a service that would allow real time viewing on a second device in another network.  This way two people could work on the file at the same time and not have to wait for backups, restores, etc.  Hosted Enterprise was the suggested answer.  When the desired intent was no longer needed (along with it's related cost), I find now that unless I spend more, I would be locked into an endless subscription at the mercy of price increases.  What I wasn't told was that it would take a third party to do so (at a cost), and it would cost even more to upgrade to Desktop Pro 2019! Not happy at all...

I appreciate you for posting your experience here in QuickBooks Community, @beesrvresort.

This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience. Once you convert a company file to a newer version of QuickBooks, you can no longer open it in an earlier version. However, you can restore a backup file you created from the earlier version to the old one.

For the detailed steps, I recommend checking the articles below:

With regards to accessing QuickBooks on a second device, you'll need to have an authorized third-party hosting providers. This allows you to use your QuickBooks securely, anywhere, and anytime.

To learn more about the hosting service providers, you can check this article: What hosting providers are authorized by Intuit?

I'll make sure to take note of your feedback. Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns about the QuickBooks service. Have a good one.

That would be impractical and nearly impossible to bring current since the earlier version backup file is several months old and the amount of data to recreate would be enormous.

Hey @beesrvresort,

You'll need to look for a third-party application to view your company file on two separate devices. Let me route you to the correct support available to get this addressed immediately.

The option to allow this activity isn't available in QuickBooks. But you can look for third-party applications wherein you can integrate with QuickBooks.

Also, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support team. This way, they can provide you with other options to view your account on another device.

You can follow these steps to contact them:

  1. Open your QuickBooks account.
  2. Press F1 on your keyboard.
  3. Choose Contact Us.

In case you want to learn some "How do I" steps, you can always visit our Help Articles page.

Please know that you can always post again or leave a comment below if you have any other questions.

hi @beesrvresort ,

You should consider to purchase a conversion service to downgrade your current QBW of Enterprise 2019 back to Pro 2018 or Pro 2019. I could recommend you alternate solution to access your local file concurrently from other network using internet connection, if you don't like to host it somewhere else.

It is easy to both work on the file at the same time from anywhere.  Install QB on a server and have the 2nd person use a remote desktop software to get to the server.  Put QB in Multi-user mode and poof!  You are both working in the same QB file at the same time.  There are some things that can't be done in Multi-User mode, but almost all daily tasks can be done simultaneously.
