Join nowI'm attempting to import a IIF file from my Volusion website to QuickBooks. But each TRNS record has the error "If the transaction header contains a date, then the distribution line must have the same date [11091] ".
The format is a TRNS record followed by multiple SPL records. There are three dates on the TRNS record and no dates in the SPL records. So I'm at a loss regarding the distrubution line? Does anybody have any ideas?
I've attached a screen shot of the pertinent lines in the IIF file.
Which QBD year version do you have?

Welcome to the Community and thanks for the screenshot, @masson1964. I'll be here to help you handle IIF import in QuickBooks Desktop.
You'll need to add both TRNS and SPL for each date range before importing your IIF files to avoid getting errors like this. When you're all set, you can now import your IIF file again.
If you get the same result, I recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team so we can review your account and determine what's preventing you from importing the file.

Here's an article in case you'll need some steps to guide you in performing other tasks with your IIF files, such as bulk editing them, etc. Please head to this link for more details: Tasks you can do with IIF files.

I'm not sure what you mean by "You'll need to add both TRNS and SPL for each date range".
I have a TRNS record with 3 dates (DATE,DUEDATE,SHIPDATE). The SPL records don't have a date field.
IIF file must now (on QBD 2019 or later) be tab-separated as opposed to comma-separated. It's an easy fix you can do in notepad, or you can do it when you select the file type to save from Excel. Try this method or you should try another app to isolate the issue.
@masson1964 RE: There are three dates on the TRNS record and no dates in the SPL records.
That's why you're getting the message. No dates aren't the same as having dates.
In the examples I looked at there was no DATE field for SPL records. But I did find a field called "DATE" in a old sample file from Intuit from 2007. I'll give it a shot. I don't know why each SPL record would require a date as the TRNS record already has one. Thanks!
Yes, my file is tab delimited.
Utilize the trial version of an importer tool to isolate the issue.
