Buy nowis there any good tool to allow me to copy/move my existing Quicken data into QuickBooks and have it even close to usable?
I have decades worth of data in Quicken, from close to 50 different accounts and thousands of transfers between these accounts.
The help file says to simply export from quicken to a csv file, then import that into QuickBooks Online, the last time i tried that it was a disaster of unusable data, so i just deleted it and stuck with Quicken.
I can't do it anymore. I have to get this data into QuickBooks.
Please tell me there is hope for me to keep this to less than a 10 hour project.
Thanks
Good evening, @ChristopherBaber.
It's great to see a new face here in the Community!
The best route would be to use a CSV file to bring the Quicken data into QuickBooks Online.
Here's a guide that gives additional details: Move your Quicken data to QuickBooks Online.
If you have any other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. Have a wonderful day!
Which Quicken year version do you have?
You can use QB Desktop to convert your data from Quicken and convert it to QB Online.
I tried that in the past, and the csv file solution does not handle account transfers well, so I ended up with thousands of transactions that need manual adjustment. It also didn't handle bringing in all the different accounts, it felt like it was going to take hundreds of hours to 'fix' the results of this process. that's just not something I have time for.
I've tried that in the past, and it just resulted in thousands of transactions that needed manual adjustment. That method didn't handle account transfers well, so all transfers were broken. it will take me hundreds of hours to fix all these transactions, and i just don't have the time or energy for that extra work.
I don't have QB desktop, and I'm not sure I'm willing to purchase it just to try to see it this works any better than the supposed QB online solution of exporting and then importing a csv file.
Have you ever personally done this, and has it worked for you? My main concern is the inability to handle transfers properly.
The same question. Which Quicken year version do you have?
You can use the trial version of QB Desktop with the same year version to convert your data from Quicken.

sorry, Quicken has moved to a constantly updated model, so it's the most recent version, which I guess is 2024 now.
I have downloaded the 2024 enterprise trial of QB Desktop. I'm just going thru the setup now. I'm hoping that using the enterprise version doesn't require me to use that version moving forward. I'm currently using the simple start Online version for another business, and that's the version I'd like to use moving forward.
Well, it took the better part of an hour, and it kinda worked. Sadly, it ONLY grabbed the personal accounts to copy into QuickBooks.
i use Quicken Home & Business, and it seems to have completely ignored all the Business accounts, which is sad, because those are really the only ones I care about for this process.
Does anyone know if there is a way to force QuickBooks to convert ALL accounts and transactions from Quicken Home & Business?
I may have to try converting all the accounts in quicken to personal accounts, but that's not an ideal solution either.

Consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service. Contact me in private for details.
