Interfaces a 3rd party payroll

I want to import a general journal entry into quick books. I am trying to include the hours worked with the gross pay.

Interfaces a 3rd party payroll

General Journals don't have quantity or time fields. Where do you intend to put the hours?

Interfaces a 3rd party payroll

Hi there, @RSD1962.

I'm here to share some information about importing payroll data into QuickBooks Online using an Excel spreadsheet.

As of now, this option is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround, yes, you can provide them with an Excel file and use it as a guide in entering the data manually.

To do this, they'll have to enter them using a Journal entry. Before doing so, I'd recommend reaching out to their accountant so they'll be guided further.

Here's how:

  1. Open the Lists menu, then choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Choose the Account drop-down, then hit Import from Excel.
  3. Click on Browse to choose the Excel file you want to import.
  4. Choose the file, then hit Open.
  5. Choose the Excel Sheet where the data you want to import is on.
  6. Map your accounts.
Mapping your accounts tell QuickBooks how to import the data from your Excel sheet.
The column headings in QuickBooks may be different from your Excel, so you’d need to match them.
    Type in a mapping name.
    Select Account as Import type.
Match the information under QuickBooks with the column headings in your Excel sheet.
  7. Select Save.
  8. Select Import. If it's your first time to import, select Yes to confirm the process.

I've added this reference as their guide in entering payroll details: Manually enter payroll checks.

Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you in importing and exporting info in QBDT: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have other importing and budget concerns or questions about managing your business's growth and transactions in QBDT. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success.
