Intuit Data Protect will no longer back up when file is open after 2024 upgrade

I recently updated desktop to 2024. I use Intuit Data Protect for automatic backup of the three companies I work in. Before the upgrade, companies would back up even if they were open, but ever since the upgrade, I get a message that the one that I have open failed to backup.

The following files did not backup because they were open or not reachable

If I close the company and repeat the backup, it works, but I'm guessing there's a fix for this that I'm just not figuring out so they'll backup even when open. Anyone?

Thanks!

Intuit Data Protect will no longer back up when file is open after 2024 upgrade

Hello, HalloweenGal. I can provide some solutions if you're facing issues while backing up your files using Intuit Data Protect.

Please ensure that your Windows firewall isn't blocking Intuit Data Protect. The software needs access to your firewall to function properly. Check your firewall settings and make sure that important files are allowed.

To add important files to the Windows firewall:

  1.  Press the Windows key on your keyboard and type Firewall in the search field.
  2.  Click on Allow an app through Windows Firewall and then select Allow another app.
  3. Browse and go to Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Intuit\Data Protect.
  4. Select QBIDPservice.exe, then Open.
  5. Hit on Network types and select the Private checkbox. Tap Add.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the files IBUenghost.exe and IntuitDataProtect.exe.

Check out this article to proceed to the next solution if the issue persists: Unable to back up with Intuit Data Protect.

You'll want to utilize the Verify and Rebuild tool. The verify tool is good at detecting the most common problems in a company file, and the rebuild tool will fix them.

You're always welcome to tag my name in your comments if you have other concerns about managing data. Just hit on the Reply button, and I'll get back to you. Have a good one.
