Intuit Data Protect

I'll ensure you get the information that you wanted to know, @oakhill12600.

Yes. You'll need to close the company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) when backing up data if the QBDT company file and Intuit Data Protect (IDP) don't reside on the same computer. To make it short, if you're in a hosted QBDT environment, ensure installing IDP on the computer that hosts your company file so you won't have to close the program, especially when you are the primary admin.

In addition, if you are backing up a file on a network resource, be sure you are using a mapped drive and not the UNC path (\\).

To know more about what you're experiencing, may I know if you encountered some errors when backing up your company file data with IDP? I got you some articles that can help fix it. I'll include them below for your backup to work if you've got issues:

Furthermore, I like you to check IDP system requirements if you need to review its specifications and answers to common questions about this service:

Feel free to comment if you need more assistance backing up your QBDT data with IDP. I'm always here to help you more. Stay safe and well.
