Good afternoon, I received help before regarding inventory site location. I inactive the Unassigned location, but every time we do a cycle count it shows the correct bin location of the item and also show the item again with the unassigned location. See the attachment
How can we eliminate the unassigned location in our inventory.
Thank you
A few things to check:
- Ensure the location is fully removed, instead of just marking it inactive, check if you can delete or reassign all items previously associated with it.
- Update item locations by going to your inventory list and making sure all items are assigned to active locations. If any still show Unassigned, manually update them.
- Verify cycle count settings, QuickBooks may still be pulling historical data from previous counts, so try a test count after ensuring all items have assigned locations.
Run an inventory rebuild/verify by going to File -> Utilities -> Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop to check for any data issues.
If the issue persists, reaching out to QuickBooks Support might be necessary to see if there’s a deeper system setting that needs adjusting.
In QuickBooks Desktop, unassigned bin locations in a cycle count can indicate inventory items that don't have a designated storage location, Tblanco. We can run a report to check and assign the item to the correct bin location. Let me provide you with the steps.
Aside from the suggestions provided by TimotiSbr above, we can run the Items by Bin Location report to locate the item. Here's how:
Then, transfer those items that are in the Unassigned into the new bin.
Once done, If the unassigned item still appears after running the cycle count again, I suggest contacting our live support team. They can set up a screen-sharing session to help identify the issue and create a ticket for further investigation.
