That means the amount due doesn't fit in the field.

If on a report, make the column wider. If you see this when you print the invoice, edit the template and make the field wider using the layout designer.

Hello there, carlahearold.

There are different reasons why the transaction is marked as starred (*). It varies on where the amount is shown. If it's either on the report or on the transaction itself.

Can you share with me a screenshot of where the transaction is marked as starred?

I'll be keeping an eye on your response.

Hi there, @cwdenari. Thanks for joining us here in the thread. Let me guide you on how to show the total amount without being starred out using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Beforehand, have you noticed a star (*) symbol when attempting to print an invoice or view a PDF? This star indicates that the amount displayed on the invoice is based on the template settings. Adjust the Total due when editing the invoice template to view the exact amount. I'll show you how:

  1. From the Invoice, go to Formatting and click Manage Templates.
  2. Decide a template you want to modify and choose OK, then select Layout Designer.
  3. Scroll down the template to reach the Total. Adjust the size of the total amount in the template to make it bigger and prevent it from showing as a star.
  4. If done, click OK, then OK again.

On the other hand, you may check this article for a guide in handling and recording invoice payments in QBDT: Record an invoice payment.

Let me know if you have additional queries with invoices in QBDT. I'm here to assist you. Take care.

Thank you!! This solved the problem!  I was editing the wrong template from the List of Templates but when I went through the process on the actual invoice, I realized that I was editing the wrong template.  So appreciate your help and swift response!
