iPad Air with Magic Keyboard not working correctly

I used to use my iPad Air M2 with my Magic Keyboard to create invoices.  With one of the recent updates, though, when I am typing an email, the RETURN button on my keyboard does nothing.  If I want to hit RETURN, I have to enable the virtual keyboard on the iPad, hit return, then dock that and continue typing.  It is so slow and annoying.  Also, after I finish entering data, I'll sometimes pull down to scroll, but if I go too fast, the entire entry gets deleted and I need to start again.  One more thing, when you enter an amount and you want to hit DONE, the menu bar isn't close to where you've been entering data, it shows up at the very bottom of the screen as a nondescript bar.  There are so many other issues that I have with the iPad and iPhone QBO, but these are the biggest.  If I am paying this much for a pretty basic accounting software that was sold to me as a solution for mobile accounting, Intuit needs to actually spend time and beta test properly.  In its current state, QBO on mobile is 80% useless (well, I guess it would be only 20% useful/functional).

iPad Air with Magic Keyboard not working correctly

Hi there, Cort. I recognize the importance of resolving the challenges you’re encountering and the need for seamless software functionality. We can go through some troubleshooting steps to address these issues.

Firstly, regarding the issue with the Return key not functioning correctly, it seems like this may be related to the connection between your iPad Air and your keyboard. That said, we can consider disconnecting and then reconnecting your devices to see if this resolves the problem.

If that doesn't work, we can proceed to uninstall and reinstall the app. This step should help not only with the Return key issue but also address the concerns you have with the buttons and overall functionality of the app.

To uninstall this, here's how:

  1. Open your iPad Air.
  2. Locate the QuickBooks Mobile App.
  3. Touch and hold the app on your Home Screen.
  4. Tap Remove App, then Delete App.

Once done, let's reinstall it:

  1. Open the App Store and search for QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Free, then Install.
  3. If you are already registered for QuickBooks Online, use the same user ID and password to log in to the app
  4. You may be prompted to enter a one-time code to verify your identity. Once you confirm your identity, you can access your account.

If you've already done the steps mentioned and the issue still persists, I recommend contacting our live support team. They have the necessary tools and expertise that can help identify and further check the cause of this matter in a safe environment.

I'll include this article to help you run a report that assesses the financial health of your company: Run a Profit & Loss report using the app (iOS only).

You're always welcome to post in this forum if you have other concerns about this.

This is the only app that I have an issue with regarding the RETURN button.  I did try deleting the app, then reinstalling it, to no avail.  I took a video showing the issue, but I cannot attach a video.  I tried to reach out to customer support a few times, but it seems that Intuit has severely limited access to CS.  When I joined, however, responses were fast since they had just released.

Also, this same setup worked a few versions ago.  This bug was introduced with an update.

  5. Choose a way to connect with us.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps.

For future reference, I'll provide you with this article, which will help you run a profit and loss report: Run a Profit & Loss Report Using the App (iOS only).

If you have further questions or other concerns, feel free to reach out again.

Thanks. I have already tried contacting CS a few times, not just for this, but several other bugs that were preventing me from getting paid from a client. However, customer support was not available…even during work hours. Maybe it’s because it’s Friday, and they wanted a long weekend. I don’t think it’s a holiday.

Thanks for the interest in this case. I’m not sure why you sent a link to run a report, but I appreciate the care.
