I transitioned from desktop version to online. On the desktop version we had customer IDs like SMITHJOHN for John Smith. We it transferred to the online version it is still like that, BUT when an invoice prints it also prints the customer name as SMITHJOHN and not John Smith as it should be. Besides not wanting to change EVERY customer name over to this new formula is there a way to just suppress the printing of their old customer ID?
Welcome to the Community forum. I understand you want to suppress the printing of the customer name on the invoice. I'll share information and guidelines you can follow to achieve your goal.
Upon checking and replicating here on my end, you can print the invoice without including the customer ID by choosing the Other Templates instead of the Modern or the Recommended template. You may refer to the screenshots below for better reference:

The option of Other templates, as mentioned by my colleague, can be found in QBO's updated invoice layout. While working on your invoice, you can view it by clicking on the Manage Gear icon.
I can direct you where to find it. Kindly follow the steps provided below.
1. Click the + New tab or if you have already chosen an invoice, click Edit.
2. Tap on Manage Gear ⚙ icon.
3. A prompt at the left panel will appear, then select the Design tab dropdown button.
4. Choose which Other templates you want to use.
From there, you can check the templates you personalized from the Custom Form Styles feature of QBO.

That still seems to be very limited on what I can customize. Do you have to use one of the templates? Are there third party solutions?
That really is not letting me customize all the things I need to customize. Do you have to sue one of the templates? In the desktop version which I have used for years you can design an invoice from scratch with complete layout capabilities.
There is still not enough customization I need.

There are third-party apps available in the QuickBooks App Store that may offer more advanced customization options. We don't recommend a specific app for this particular customization, as the compatibility and functionality of third-party apps can vary. However, I encourage you to explore the QuickBooks App Store to find an app that aligns with your specific needs. You can search for apps that focus on invoice customization or reach out to the app developers directly to inquire about their customization capabilities.
