Mac migrated admin back to mac

Have QB Desktop-Mac 2016, exported for accountant to QB for Windows.  Computer crashed-loosing data-no back up.  Got migrated admin. version from accountant and have been using it that way.  Now want to update to QB Desktop-Mac 2019 but don't want to go thru migrated admin. on my mac.  Need to know how to install my new 2019 Desktop for Mac disk and get all my current work from the migrated admin file.

Mac migrated admin back to mac

Good day, J Prac,

I can help you install your QuickBooks Mac software and transfer your data successfully.

Converting your QuickBooks Mac file to the Windows version and vice versa is possible through round tripping. This process is used to allow your accountant to make changes to your company file if they are using a different database or QuickBooks program.

The first thing you need to do is to install your QuickBooks Mac 2019 on your computer. You may follow the steps outlined in this article to get set up: Install and Set up QuickBooks Mac Desktop

Please make sure to update your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows to the latest release. Once you're done, we can now convert your Windows file to Mac by following the steps below:

  1. Open QuickBooks for Windows as Admin.
  2. Re-sort lists.
  3. Rebuild and Verify your company file data.
  4. Go to the File tab, then select Utilities.
  5. Choose Copy Company File for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
  6. Save the file to your desired location to create a MAC.qbb file.
  7. Send the copy to the Mac computer using whatever method you prefer (e.g., DVD, external hard drive, flash drive, FTP web site).
  8. Restore the file to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

That should help transfer your data to your new company file. You may want to check out this article to know more about restrictions and general instructions on converting your company files: Convert a QuickBooks Mac file to QuickBooks Windows and back again

Please let me know how this goes, J Prac. I'm here if you need further assistance. Have a great day!

Mac migrated admin back to mac

Thank you Jen.  I will get a copy up to my accountant as she has the windows version and have her do the steps you listed for me on the windows side.  I will install my new 2019 mac version on the and await her conversion.
