Making Corrections to A bill in Bill Payment

So I have entered credit card transactions in Bills.

I receive my credit card statement.

I am checking off in bill payment each charge.

I realize that someone forgot to enter a receipt.

How do I enter the receipt and add it to that vendor's list of bills without exiting the bill payment.

I can't seem to find a way.  Once I exit, add the bill, then I have to go back and check all the bills again, only to find that another receipt was not entered. . . .

Any help would be appreciated.

Making Corrections to A bill in Bill Payment

Welcome to the Community, MACMAM.

I've got your point. Having the option to enter the receipt under the Bill Payment or Pay Bills screen makes it easier to ensure that all receipts are entered in QuickBooks Online.

For now, it isn't possible to record the receipt directly from the Bill Payment page. You must exit it and create a bill for that specific credit card transaction.

As a workaround, open a new tab for the bill and Bill Payment screen. This way, you can easily input the receipt if it's missing.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the + New icon.
  2. Hover your mouse over to Bill, then right-click and choose Open link in new tab.Capture2.PNG
  3. Repeat the same steps to open a new tab on the Pay Bills screen.
  4. You can switch between tabs as shown in the image below to enter bill or check the bill payment screen.Capture.PNG
  5. Refresh the Bill Payment page once you enter or create a new bill to display the transaction.Capture1.PNG

Additionally, you can use the Upload your receipts feature for faster recording and tracking of your receipt. This will generate a transaction for you to review. Check out this article for more details: Upload your receipts to QuickBooks Online.
