Minnesota Paid Leave - Deduction Setup

Hello,
We are administering Minnesota's new Paid Leave program starting January 1st. We will be going through a third party vendor and not the State of MN. However, looking for clarity on how to setup the deductions? Both for employee and employer, and the tax implication. Does QB have any clarity? We use QB Desktop.

Minnesota Paid Leave - Deduction Setup

Hello there, Mark.

I appreciate your prompt attention to the new Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave program, set to take effect this January.

At this time, QuickBooks has not released specific instructions for setting up this feature. Rest assured, we will provide detailed setup steps as soon as they are available.

You can visit the Minnesota Paid Leave website to find the most up-to-date information about this program.

If you have more concerns, please let us know. We're here to help.

Minnesota Paid Leave - Deduction Setup

Hello, KayePe -

It would be helpful if we could rest assured this will be setup before the end of the year so we can get employees setup properly prior to their first paycheck in 2026.

Also, I work in an Accounting Firm and have multiple clients asking for help with the setup and I can't even tell them when they can expect the software to be updated for them.

Please let us know that this is being worked on for a release date prior to January 1, 2026. The State of MN has been telling us this is coming since 2024, so I see no reason this update shouldn't be ready to go prior to 2026.

Any additional information would be much appreciated.

I am also getting nervouse about this and I am going to setup an Excel workbook to track this for the first January 2026 payroll. We are a small business, fortunately, but I don't want any fines and penalties.
