Thanks for posting here, @pkpollman.
I'm here to assist you in moving your server to your computer so you can access the company file there.
There are services QuickBooks uses to manage company file access. One of these is the hosting method. Before we can move the server to another computer, we'll need to stop the hosting. Here's how:
- Go to the File menu.
- Select Utilities.
- If you see the Host Multi-User Access option, ignore it. Move on to the next workstation.
- If Stop Hosting Multi-User Access is an option, select it.
Once done, move the company files to the new computer. Then, install the QuickBooks data server manager on the new computer. Feel free to follow the steps below:
- Download and update QuickBooks Desktop and the Database Server Manager.
- Install QuickBooks Database Server Manager on your computer that hosts your company files. Install them in order from the oldest version first if you're hosting multiple versions of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
- Close all open programs on your server computer.
- Install the file you downloaded. It's Setup_QuickBooks.exe.
- Follow the onscreen steps. For the product or license numbers, here's how to find them.
- Select Custom or Network Options when asked what an install type is. Then, pick Next instead of Express.
- Pick the best choice for your network setup, then click Next.
- Follow the rest of the instructions. Select Install when everything is ready.

Feel free to read this article if you want to add and manage user roles in QBDT: Create and manage users and roles in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
Come back here if you have additional questions about changing servers in QBDT. I'll be willing to help. Keep safe, and have a good one.
