negative amount in pay advance repayments

Ok. So, I am trying to clean up our QB accounts and I know negative numbers are never good. But I have no idea what this is below. We sometimes give advances to our employees but that wouldnt be recorded under this pay advance repayment account so, will it always be a negative number? I am not sure how to fix this if it even needs to be fixed.

negative amount in pay advance repayments

Thanks for joining us here in the Community, gkfwc.

I'm happy to provide some info about the negative amounts showing in your QuickBooks Online account.

Negative amounts represent a credit balance in the account in question. If this is incorrect, the balance can be corrected with a journal entry to force the books to balance. I always recommend speaking with your accountant before entering a journal entry.

When you're ready here's how to make the entry:

1. Click the + New icon.
2. Select Journal entry.

3. Fill out the fields to create your journal entry.
4. Select Save and new or Save and close.

The following article provides additional info about creating journal entries in QuickBooks Online. Lastly, if you don't currently have an accountant you can find one specifically trained in QuickBooks by visiting the ProAdvisor site
