No default sounds after doing a clean install for QB 2019 Pro.

This is a Windows 10 issue, I'm sure. It's screwed up a lot of programs that were stable in Windows 7.

I cannot find the sound files used by QuickBooks 2019 Pro. I know where to set the sounds but they are set to nothing. Is there a place to download them because I believe they did not get installed in this last clean install I did.  The QuickBooks Tool Hub did not help either.

We can look into our company's preferences, SprhdMM.

I'll show you how to set the sounds within our QuickBooks Desktop company file.

  1. Go to the Edit menu and then select Preferences
  2. Click Desktop View from the menu.
  3. Select Sounds under the Windows Settings section.
  4. Update the sounds and make it set it to default.
  5. Click OK and then OK again.

Now we can try opening and closing a transaction to hear the sound.

You can always reach out to me if you need more help with setting up your preferences. Take care!

This didn't work. I tried it before I posted this.
Does anyone else have any suggestions? For instance, where the actual QB sound files reside?

Thank you but I had already tried that. It doesn't change anything.

Does anyone know where the QB sound files reside? I believe they were removed when I uninstalled then did a clean install.

We'll help you get this issue resolved, @SprhdMM.

First, we need to make sure that your QuickBooks is up-to-date. Download and install the QuickBooks 2019 Pro from this link: Download QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, close the program and hold the option key down when you relaunch. That prevents the software from automatically opening the last used company file. After that please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Windows tab.
  2. Search for Control Panel.
  3. Select Hardware and Sound.
  4. From the Sound window, click the Adjust system volumeChange system soundsManage audio devices, then look for QuickBooks and set the sounds as your link.
  5. Once done, click OK.

If you're still unable to make it work, I suggest getting in touch with our technical support team. Our representatives can provide additional troubleshooting and can run some diagnosis to identify this unexpected behavior.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Help and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Let them know that you're unable to see the sound files after clean install.
  4. Click Continue, then select if you want to schedule a callback.

Do let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you.

I now see Quickbooks Sounds but they are not the default sounds because either they are not there or they are not loading on a repair job.

I cannot listen to hundreds of wav files looking for the default files. I just want it to work the way it has for me for over 20 years. I'll attempt tech support.

Thank you for your attempts to help me solve this.
