None of my reminders or scheduled transactions worked

I have several reminders and scheduled transactions for the 1st of the month. Not one of them worked today. No reminders in the task bar and no transactions were recorded. AND the skip option on the reminders is not there to use them and then skip them like you have to do.

Hi @Lee-Henderson,

In the meantime, here are some common things to check in QuickBooks Online that might be causing this:

Let's start with Reminders:

  1. Take a look at your Dashboard: Often, QuickBooks Online will display key reminders right on your main dashboard when you log in. Are you seeing anything there? Sometimes the view can be customized, so make sure the relevant reminder widgets are visible.
  2. Check Specific Sections: For example, if you're expecting reminders about overdue invoices, head over to the Sales tab and see if there's a section highlighting past due amounts. Similarly, for bills to pay, check the Expenses tab. Sometimes the reminders are integrated within these specific areas rather than a separate pop-up.
  3. Review Your Settings: While QuickBooks Online doesn't have a dedicated "Reminders List" like the desktop version, it's worth double-checking the settings related to the specific reminders you're expecting. For instance, if you want to be reminded about overdue invoices, you might need to ensure that you've set up and saved those settings within the customer or sales settings.

Now, let's look at Scheduled Transactions:

  1. Head to the Recurring Transactions List: This is the central hub for all your scheduled transactions in QuickBooks Online.
    • Click the Gear icon in the top right corner.
    • Under "Lists," select Recurring Transactions.
  2. Check the Status: On this list, you'll see all your scheduled transactions. Make sure the ones that aren't working have a Status of "Scheduled." If they say "Unscheduled" or "Inactive," that's likely why they aren't running.
  3. Review the Details: Click on the name of the scheduled transaction to open it. Double-check:
    • The Schedule: Is the frequency set correctly? Is the "Next Run Date" in the future?
    • The Action: Is it set to "Create automatically"? If it's set to "Remind me," it won't run automatically, you'll just get a reminder to create it.
    • Any End Date or Number of Occurrences: Make sure the schedule hasn't ended.
  4. Payment Method (for Scheduled Payments): If you have scheduled automatic payments to vendors or from customers, ensure the payment method is still valid and has sufficient funds (if applicable).

A Couple of Other Things to Consider:

  • Are you the main admin user? Sometimes permissions can affect whether you see reminders or if scheduled transactions run.
  • Have you recently changed your email address? If you're expecting email reminders, make sure your email address in your QuickBooks Online profile is correct. You can check this by clicking the Gear icon and then Account and Settings.

Once you give me a little more detail about what specific reminders and scheduled transactions are giving you trouble, I can probably offer some more tailored advice. We'll get to the bottom of this!

None of my reminders or scheduled transactions worked

Thanks for getting back to me.

I know all this but thought I would check and make sure. When I went back in, they were all posted, and the reminders were in the task window as they should be.  Guess it just needed a little extra time today.  Or it was playing a fool's joke on me.

Thanks!
