The numerical order in the Customer Center is working as designed. Those with special characters will be at the top, followed by numbers in ascending order. But it will be also dependent on the next digit rather than its value.

QuickBooks Desktop sorts the customer list by numerical order. If you have new customers, the system will put them at the top.
All you need to do is resort so it will revert the default order. Here's how:

If you prefer a Hierarchical View, select it from the customer list. This way, the program will stay on your preferred view.
