Older desktop version with banking support

This morning when I downloaded my bank transactions through the bank's website I got a notice saying that I will no longer be able to import transactions at the end of this month.

This is of course extremely disappointing since it has nothing to do with QuickBooks. All they have to do is leave their software alone yet they're taking out this capability despite the fact that I paid for it.

Is there an older version of QuickBooks desktop that still allows bank imports. I wasn't early adopter of QuickBooks online and that whole experience horrific so no way I'm going in that direction even though I've heard it's gotten better.

Hello, divreig.

I feel you, and it's a deal-breaker when a feature we rely on so much is being taken out. With that said, I do have some information regarding the notice you received.

I'll also lay down some details on how to go about managing your entries and your bank transactions in QuickBooks.

I take it that you have QuickBooks 2019 and have received the discontinuation notice. Older QuickBooks Desktop versions are unable to use the bank import or the Bank Feeds feature.

These unsupported versions are no longer connected to the internet. So, the automatic bank import process is unavailable.

There is a couple of options we can do regarding your bank transactions.

If you still want to use the Bank Feeds feature, we'll want to consider upgrading to QuickBooks 2022 so we can use the bank import process again.

The steps and details on how to upgrade your current version can be found here: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.

Another option is to disregard the Bank Feeds feature (after the end of the month) if upgrading isn't viable for you.

As we reconcile your account, we'll want to manually compare your bank statement and the records in QuickBooks. This way, we can reconcile the transactions that have been cleared from your bank.

Even if you have an unsupported or discontinued version, we can still add transactions and manage your books. We won't be able to do payroll or use any add-on services such as the Bank Feeds however.

We can take a look at this article if you need more details about our product discontinuation: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

Need a guide on the reconciliation process? I'll link this article just in case: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're ready to check and review your financial data, we can run a few reports. If ever we need a guide on what report that shows the data we need, we can read this article: Understand reports.

I'll lend a hand again if you have more questions regarding your bank transactions or entries. I'll also take a moment to listen if you have concerns regarding your data in QuickBooks.

Thank you for your prompt response and the options you've laid out. However let's make it clear that I don't need QuickBooks to connect to the internet I'm downloading the files from the bank. This is strictly a money grab and insult to your customers.

@divreig

You may have 2 options:

1. Purchase a one time license for QBD 2021 to upgrade your version

2. Keep using QBD 2019 and utilize a 3rd party tool to import bank statements in XLS/CSV file format.
