P&L shows both invoices and bills

My P&L standard report shows bills and invoices in sales portion for both accrual and cash basis which distorts sales. I checked the filters and I don’t see any issue with that. Please check the attached screen shot.

Any assistance provide will be greatly appreciated.

thank you,

P&L shows both invoices and bills

I can help fix this, Manizha1983.

You'll have to make sure that you're pulling up the correct report. As I can see in your screenshot, you're running the Transactions Detail by Account. I'll guide you through how to run the Profit and Loss Standard report in QBDT.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. From the drop-down list, select Company & Financial and choose Profit & Loss Standard.

By following the steps, all your income and expenses will show up without the invoices and bills.

If need help customizing your report, you can refer to this article to get the specific data you need: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns with reports. I'll be around to help. Take care, and have a great day ahead.

thank you very much for replying.

i for your point and I do run the P&L exactly the same way. My P&L is showing normal but when click on my sales account, I see bills and invoices, where I should only be seeing invoices.

Thank you for following up, Manizha1983.

Let me help and make sure the details in your report stays accurate.

It's also possible that you're experiencing data damage issues. The reason why your transactions are showing in your reports differently.

To fix this, we can use the Verify Rebuild tools to scan and fix possible data damage in your file. Let me show you how.

To verify:

  1. Close all windows, then go to the File menu.
  2. Hover over Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data. You may select Expand All to see the errors.

To rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Hover over Utilities.
  3. Then click on Rebuild Data.

After that, make sure to run the verify tool again to see if you can still see errors. If you do, run the rebuild tool again. Don't worry, if you see some changes in the errors its working.

It looks like bill #221093 has items on it that are mapped to your sales income account.  If a bill contains entries on either the 'Expense' tab or 'Items' tab, that are mapped to an income account, they will do exactly what your report shows.
