Creating a purchase order is available in QuickBooks Online. You can use this feature through subscribing or use a service trial for QuickBooks Simple Start, Essential, Plus, or Advanced. Aside from creating PO's, there are other types of transactions that you can use to record information for your vendors or customers. I'd recommend viewing the available features on each plan. This helps you choose the plan that's right for your business.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can add transactions directly and categorize them.

The Purchase order feature is ONLY available in the plus subscription at $90 a month! This is crazy by the way and part of the reason were switching to Xero.
