SUMMER SAVINGS 90% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months* Ends June 27
Buy nowI was told through the community not to worry about the threatening emails about whatever this "PCI compliance" crap is because I ONLY email invoices to my customers who can pay online using ACH transfer or now and then credit/ debit cards. I just randomly had $85 debited directly from my bank account by Security Metrics on 6/7/25 and I have no idea why or what to do/ how to get it back/ how to stop this nonsense about PCI compliance or whether I actually need to do anything or not. I will NEVER take cards in person, or save card info ever, and I only want to be able to email invoices like I have been for years and let QB take their % or flat fee from the transaction.
If anyone could PLLEEEAASSEE HELP with a super simplified explanation/ solution I would be forever grateful.
Thank you!!!!
I understand how concerning it must be to see an unexpected charge in your account, Marvel. You shouldn't be charged any amount if you didn't sign up for any services.
I recommend contacting our Live Support Team directly to check how it was debited from your account and asking for a refund. Here's how to reach them:
I'll add this material if you want to know our support availability hours: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.
Also, there's an easy way to remind your customers about invoice due dates. Check this article to learn more: Send invoice reminders automatically or manually in QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with regarding invoices in QBO by replying to the thread. We're here to help you.
PCI compliance is required for any business that accepts electronic payments, regardless of whether you take cards in person or not. The reason is that if you accept electronic payments, then you have a merchant account that stores that data, and you have computers and/or mobile devices that can access that data and are vulnerable. It's the computers and/or mobile devices you use to access that account that PCI compliance is designed to protect. Whether the cards are accepted in person or not is irrelevant. You don't need to use Security Metrics for PCI compliance, but your merchant account provider (Intuit) can require you to be PCI compliant.
