Problems after upgrading to QB Desktop for Mac 2022 with changing Payee after credit card download

After downloading from bank or credit card, when I go to enter a Payee, as I enter the first few letters, QB inserts an GL Account name instead of a Vendor Name and when I click on the entry to write over it, it reinserts the GL account name and whatever I type next comes after the name rather than replacing it. Next I try going to the Vendor List, copying and pasting the vendor name in Payee, and the system rejects the name.  It seems to only want to accept GL Account Names.  The Account entry is working correctly.

The work around is to go to the check register and manually enter the payment and once I do that it matches with the originally downloaded entry, but obviously that is more time consuming.

How can I fix this?  I've already tried a utility rebuild.  I can't tell you how much time this is taking for what has always been a quick and easy issue.

Problems after upgrading to QB Desktop for Mac 2022 with changing Payee after credit card download

Thanks for sharing the details of your concern with us, @wowstudio.

I'll share some insights on how to get around this issue so you can manage your bank transaction seamlessly.

I recommend closing and reopening your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac to isolate this and refresh the system.

If this is not the case, I suggest reinstalling your QBDT for Mac. This will install new updates and fixes to the system.

Once you're all set, you can now match and reconcile your account whenever you're ready. You can refer to page 170 in this article for the complete details: QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022 User’s Guide.

I'm just a post away if you need more help managing your transactions and QBDT for Mac. Simply tag me in your response and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Keep safe!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've tried shutting it down and reopening a few times.  The first item works after I do that, but then when I get to the second transaction it reverts to pulling from the GL database.  It has done the same thing multiple times.

I do not need lessons on how downloading bank transactions work.  I've been using QB for over a decade.  This is a glitch that surfaced after I upgraded to QB for desktop mac 2022.

I am afraid to throw out the program and reload (it is already up-to-date) for fear that I will have to re-register the product, which did not go smoothly the first time, but I guess I will have to try it next since no one else seems to know how to resolve this glitch.

Problems after upgrading to QB Desktop for Mac 2022 with changing Payee after credit card download

I have been having this exact same problem, and it was with two different clients' files at their offices on their computers, so it wasn't just an isolated incident. My client and I just spent two hours on a support chat with an Intuit support agent, and the thing that finally seemed to solve the issue was going into the library and deleting all files that started with "com.intuit", moving them to the trash, and emptying the trash. After we did this, the problem seemed resolved, and to further test it, I opened a sample company (that had also previously malfunctioned when the agent wanted me to test it so that he could see it happen in their sample file), imported my credit card transactions, and it was fixed there as well.

P.S. - To get there, locate the Library (if it is not obviously located on your machine, click Go - Option Key - then click "Library" when it becomes visible in the drop-down list.)

Navigate in the Library to the Preferences folder, and in that folder, you will find files starting with "com.intuit" with the suffix .Plist. Trash 'em, empty the trash, and see if it helps.

Hello,

Have you found a solution to this?! I'm having the exact same problem...its making downloading transactions IMPOSSIBLE! I am incredibly frustrated. This used to take me only a few minutes. The responses from Intuit are useless... it's clearly a problem with QuickBooks and not the user.

Did you try deleting the com.intuit Plist files in the preferences folder, as I described in my posts? It's fixed the problem so far. If my description of the fix wasn't clear, let me know and I'll try to give better directions on how to do it.

Hi there, @ktbuckalew.

I can see that you've been trying to pull up files in your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. I'm here to help you how you can restore them.

A DMG file will be created when you create a backup in QuickBooks for Mac. This file contains a duplicate of your company file or any other documents you saved in QuickBooks, such as forms or PDFs.

Here's how you can find your backup company files if you are not sure where did you save them.

  1. Select Preferences from the QuickBooks menu.
  2. Choose Backup.
  3. Select Reveal Backup Folder, then double-click the folder where your backup files are saved.
  4. You can sort by date and see your most recent backup by selecting Date Modified.

Please remember that the file name of your backup company also indicates the QuickBooks year version you are using. It simplifies the process of locating your QuickBooks backup. For example, if you use QuickBooks for Mac 2022, your backup company should be "Your company name.qb2022."

I'm also adding this QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2020 User's Guide for more information.

Don't forget to write us here in the Community if you have any further questions with your company data. I'd be delighted to assist. Thank you for coming, and please stay safe!
